The Historical Association is involved with basically all aspects of Scouting in the Old Hickory Council. Each year the Association seem to get involved in many activities. Here are just a few...past and present.

During 1999, the Association was able to scan and organize a comprehensive list of the neckerchief slides offered years ago in Boy's Life by that famous wood carver know to Scouts as "Whittlin' Jim." Shown below are just a few, but reprints of all are available free-of-charge to interested visitors at Boy Scout Raven Knob Museum.

Memorial Bell Tower

On June 29, 2011, the Old Hickory Council, BSA/Camp Raven Knob Historical Association dedicated a memorial bell tower at Camp Raven Knob in memory of Myrton B. Daniel for his 45+ years service with the Boy Scouts of America and the Old Hickory Council.

Myrt was truly a "one-of-a-kind." He loved Scouting and the outdoors with a passion. With that big grin, he could get your attention in a second and usually had something witty up his sleeve to say. Myrton served as the Historical Association's President from its beginning in 1994 until he died in 2010. Although he is gone from us, his memory will always live on each time the bell rings.

The August - October, Volume 31, No.3 edition of the Raven contains an article about the event (www.oldhickorycouncil.org). Also, photographs are available for viewing and downloading from http://gallery.me.com/sdaniel519#100108.
